Bronya Zaychik (B3-MU-1)
A former assassin turned Valkyrie, Bronya Zaychik is one of the most dangerous people on the planet. She is a Valkyrie of St Freya and a close companion to Kiana Kaslana and Raiden Mei. Known for her brilliant mind and cold expression, Bronya can seem callous and distant at times. However, she is also observant towards others' feelings, and is known to be a caring companion. She has a love for gaming, hacking, and the mascot HOMU.
She shares a very close, but somewhat complicated relationship with Seele Vollerei.

Early Life
Birth
February 16, 2000
The Second Eruption claimed the lives of many in Siberia. Bronya's father Colonel Alexei Sydavich Zaitsev was killed in the event, leaving behind the pregnant Alexandra Pavlovna Zaychik. Bronya's mother was saved by Alexei's colleague, Cocolia[1]
May 2000
Three months before Bronya's due birth, Alexandra nearly succumbed to a lung disease. Misteln Schariac saved her by awakening a stigmata inside her. However, after three days Misteln revealed the awakened stigmata was killing the unborn Bronya in the womb, so Alexandra told Misteln to put the stigma back to sleep in order to save the child.[2]
August 18, 2000
Bronya was born in the West Siberian Plain. Her mother did not live much longer after this. In order to satisfy Misteln's wishes, Gray Serpent took a sample of her blood and investigated her, only to conclude Bronya was completely ordinary and incapable of withstanding high dosages of Honkai, and unable to become a Herrscher or become Stigmata Awakened..[3][2]
Mercenary
Soon Bronya was left an orphan. After her mother's passing, she was taken in by Maxim, a childhood friend of her father. He was a mercenary training children. Amidst the civil war that spawned from the disaster, Bronya was forced to become a killer. She underwent the most ruthless of training, honing her body and skills, learning to handle many weapons starting with a Kalashnikov, and being mentally worn down into the mindset of a slave and a killing machine.[4][2]

During this time, she also underwent covert underwater sabotage training.[4]
She became known for her work as an assassin and earned the title 'the Silver Wolf of the Urals'.[4] She adopted a modus operandi of pretending to be a child prostitute, before strangling the target with her stockings. However, she did still use sniper rifles or knives when it was more convenient.[4]
August 18, 2010
On Bronya's 10th birthday, Maxim gave Bronya an old rabbit shaped matrushka doll. It was a gift given to him by Alexei in the past, and he had found it when cleaning with his companion Vladimir.[2]
One day, Maxim informed Bronya that Vladimir had died along with his client by blowing up a mortar. He explained the client had not died instantly, and instead died a slow and painful death while going mad. Maxim asked Bronya to, if Maxim was ever in such a situation, find someone to shoot him in the head. Bronya replied by saying she would be best suited for the job herself. Maxim thanked her, and then revealed he had gotten a computer.[2]
Winter 2011
A fire broke out and destroyed their house and her belongings, including the matrushka doll and the computer. They tried to recover the funds to rebuild. That summer, Maxim was killed in a misfire accident by a boy of Bronya's age during training. Maxim's group disbanded, and Bronya was left to fend for herself.[2]
January, 2012
Desperate for work, Bronya took a hit job with as the target Cocolia, 'the Demoness'. She attempted to assassinate Cocolia using a sniper rifle. However, 'the Demoness' Cocolia saw the attack coming, and managed to catch Bronya by surprise, knocking her out.[4][2]
The Orphanage
Life in the orphanage
When Bronya woke up, Seele was standing over her, and Bronya instinctively grabbed her arm. Cocolia stopped a fight from happening, and explained that she spared Bronya because she doesn't kill kids. She then explained that Bronya would be taken into the orphanage, and that she would no longer be a slave.[4]
Quickly, Bronya became appreciative of Seele.[4]
March 2012
Seele was kidnapped by human traffickers, so Bronya used her assassin skills to kill all the kidnappers, whilst looking down on their lack of skill or conduct. However, as she untied Seele, covered in blood, Seele freaked out. Bronya did not know Seele was shouting 'demon' at her own alternate persona, and assumed she had scared Seele. She vowed to never hurt anyone for Seele's sake, as she did not want to upset Seele.[4]
The orphanage was a home and family to Bronya, and she met and grew closer to Sin Mal, Rozaliya, Liliya, Zofia, Isabella, and the other children at the orphanage. Sin Mal was jealous when Bronya and Seele were affectionate.[4][5]
Bronya started noticing how Seele would behave strange from time to time. She knew Seele wasn't a picky eater, but sometimes she would suddenly move specific foods to Sin Mal plate on the sly. She also noticed the normally harmless Seele swapping out the ketchup with chilli sauce, which Sin Mal didn't like. Seele liked reading books, but sometimes she'd fall asleep pretending to read. Bronya noticed her entire body language and behaviour would change, as if she was a different person. Still, she chose not to question Seele about it, as she felt Seele had a right to having her own secrets. Unbeknownst to her, what she had observed was Seele's alternate persona briefly taking over at times.[6]
Bronya and Seele were both considered for the X-10 experiment with Anti-Entropy, which would attempt to improve people's survivability against the Honkai, but was known to be a very risky experiment that had already cost the lives of multiple test subjects.[4]
August 2013
While reading Daughter of the Sea, Seele asked Bronya what the sea was like. Bronya asked if she had never been to the sea before, and Seele confirmed. Bronya then responded by saying Seele's eyes are like the sea, and comforted her.[4]

A week before a planned beach excursion, Seele and Bronya sat outside to stargaze. Bronya promised Seele she would teach her how to swim.[4]
During the Honkai adaptability tests, Bronya displayed the best performance in the test group. She was planned to perform the X-10 experiment before Seele would, and agreed willingly despite knowing how low the odds of success truly were. She hoped that if she failed, the data would still prove useful to decrease the risks on Seele's turn.[4]
When Seele hugged Bronya during a Honkai adaptability test, Sin got angry. She pushed Bronya down the stairs and stomped on her leg, breaking it.[4]
As Cocolia was treating the injuries, she confronted Bronya about the fact that someone must've attacked her, because this kind of injury was too severe. She found it suspicious that Bronya had not fought back and left a dead body. However, Bronya denied the fact, and instead claimed she simply broke her leg from tripping down the stairs.[4]
Seele felt guilty for being the reason for the attack, and being unable to intervene due to fear, but Bronya consoled her and licked her tears (literally).[4]
X-10
When Seele found out about the X-10 experiment from a document dropped by Sin Mal during a confrontation, she approached Cocolia and convinced her to let her take Bronya's place after displaying her natural Stigmata and increased Honkai adaptability. Noticing that Seele was missing when she woke up, Bronya found the document, and realised what was happening, but was left powerless to do anything about it.[4]
The experiment went wrong, and Seele became quantised. In a last attempt to see Bronya again, she rushed to the orphanage but disappeared just before she reached Bronya. When she disappeared, she dropped her hair ornament, which signaled Bronya that something happened. Bronya broke down crying.[4]
Cocolia broke the news to Bronya of what happened, and said she would cancel the X-10 experiment, because it had cost too many lives. Bronya demanded she be taken through the experiment, hoping to be able to meet Seele again. When Cocolia refused, Bronya threatened to kill herself, forcing Cocolia's hand.[4]
Bronya took part in the experiment despite her injuries, and was able to meet Seele again. Bronya did not plan to survive the experiment, hoping she could stay in a quantised state with Seele, but Seele did not accept this, and they made a promise. Bronya would return when she had found a way to save Seele, and Seele would wait for her.[4]
Seele gifted Bronya Project Bunny 19c, a special weapon from the Previous Era with the power to 'rebuild', capable of materialising a large mech that would protect Bronya. She then sent Bronya off with a kiss, and made her promise to kiss her back when they met again.[4]
Due to the negative effects of the experiment causing a Honkai infection, Bronya suffered severe damage to her legs and her limbic system. She lost the ability to walk without prosthetic aid, or experience higher order emotions.[4]

Test Subject managed to return from her quantum state with what appears to be a robotic symbiont of unknown model or make. We do not advise any attempt to separate these 2 entities. The Honkai infection rendered the subject incapable of using her legs. Locomotion is only possible with a pair of advanced prosthetics. Life after the experiment
Cocolia had a chip implanted in Bronya's brain. Presumably to counter some of the adverse effects of her injuries. However, the chip allowed Cocolia to completely control Bronya's actions. Cocolia gave Bronya earrings as a present. She was also given formal attire as an Anti-Entropy operative and the Black Nucleus battlesuit, designed to be extremely destructive. She was made capable of summoning the battlesuit. She once again became a violent warrior under Cocolia, and she was aimless, and began to view the killing she was made to do in the name of her missions as the only thing that gave her value.[7][8]
Bronya and Cocolia made multiple attempts to recover Seele , but all of their attempts failed. Eventually, Bronya no longer considered Seele alive.[4][5]
Nagazora
The Mission
February 2014
Bronya was sent to Nagazora to retrieve Raiden Mei during an artificially induced outbreak caused by Cocolia's schemes The plan was to use the outbreak to awaken Mei's stigma, so that Mei could be of use in retrieving Seele or otherwise aiding the orphanage. It is unknown how much Bronya knew about the plan.[4]
It is unknown under what circumstances she met Kiana Kaslana and Raiden Mei, but they developed a friendship, and Bronya began to look up to Mei. Due to Mei's kind and caring personality, Bronya formed an attachment. Due to Kiana's perverted antics and impulsive thinking clashing with Bronya's personality, they developed a sort of rivalry.[4][9]
During the outbreak, the trio fought their way through the city in search of safety. During this time, they noticed they hadn't been able to bathe in a while, so Bronya used Project Bunny's scanners to look for a hot spring. She managed to find a good spot, and opened a hole in the ground for Mei (and Kiana) to bathe as she scouted the area.[10]
She fought zombies to keep them from disturbing Mei's bath time. When Mei noticed this, she convinced Bronya to join the bath, and noticed the many scars Bronya had on her body.[10]
At one point, they were attacked by a large Honkai beast. The creature clashed with Project Bunny, and launched Bronya through several buildings. She emerged unscathed, but was split off from the group.[9]
A spike of Honkai energy due to Raiden Mei switching into Herrscher mode during the battle alerted the Schicksal battleship Hyperion to their position. As the battle ended, Bronya managed to find her way onto the ship. She was found by an employee.[9]
Along with Kiana and Mei, Bronya was taken in by St Freya Academy and entered Valkyrie training.[9]
St Freya
Valkyrie life
At St Freya, Bronya spent her time hanging out with Kiana Kaslana and Raiden Mei. She also developed a bond with Murata Himeko and Theresa Apocalypse. She played a lot of video games when she could, but did not neglect studies or Valkyrie training. Although she was relieved to be living a new life, she maintained contact with Cocolia through email. She had nightmares about her past, and found comfort in St Freya.[11][12][8]
Bronya was given a modified version of the Far East Branch Schicksal uniform, featuring improvements for her leg prosthetics at Theresa's behest, despite making no request of it herself. She was also given the defensive Yamabuki Armor, and the Far East Branch also cracked the Black Nucleus battlesuit for use.[8]
Simulation
Kiana Kaslana was concerned about flunking the history portions of her exams. Bronya agreed to help her using a Virtual Reality Comm Link, and they dove into a virtual space designed by Otto Apocalypse. However, due to the system recognising Kiana's genes, they were instead launched into a special program. A hidden sector of the memory archives only open to House Kaslana. There, they met with a reconstruction of events 538 years ago during the attempted execution of Kallen Kaslana.
Kiana was captured by the (virtual) local authorities, and Bronya bailed her out of prison by posing as her mother. Bronya recounted the history of how Kallen was prosecuted, and that one of the charges concerned her falling in love with a Herrscher. This in reference to Yae Sakura.[12]
This knowledge infuriated Kiana, and she roped Bronya into helping her attempt to save the virtual Kallen from execution. To do this, Bronya handcrafted powder bombs to use as a distraction, but before she could use them, the virtual Otto Apocalypse launched his plan. Noticing something was up, Bronya sought a high vantage point.[12]
Hacking into the system from the inside, Bronya discovered that the original Kallen Kaslana did not die from being executed, but rather fighting the Honkai beasts unleashed in Otto's distraction plan.[12]
Noticing Kiana was under threat of a vicious monster, Bronya attempted to manipulate the space to save her, but failed to gain access. When a beast attacked the pole she had climbed, she fell down only to be caught by the real Otto Apocalypse, who granted her data access.[12]
Bronya unlocked Kiana's new Godsbane Battlesuit, Knight Moonbeam. After Kiana used it to defeat the beasts, Bronya remarked that she could not find the suit in the Schicksal Archives.[12]
Despite knowing that interacting with the virtual space could not change history, Bronya opted not to stop or interrupt Kiana from talking to the now dying Kallen.[12]
Academy Events
When St Freya Academy's Research Department teamed up with a game company for a team building training event in the style of a MOBA game, Bronya participated by teaming up with Kiana Kaslana under Raiden Mei's leadership, standing against a team led by Fu Hua. They won the game using a distraction play where Kiana held off the entire enemy team, and by having a trap planted between them by Bronya.[13]
Chiyou
For an early mission organised with the St Freya Valkyries, the trio was deployed alongside Murata Himeko to look into the mysterious Nine Realms, an underwater cave complex they believed could house the remains of Ji Xuanyuan, in the hopes of retrieving a natural Stigmata that could serve Schicksal's research, and the legendary Xuanyuan Sword. They did so under the guidance and with tech support from Theresa Apocalypse and Fu Hua.[14]
During the investigation, Himeko was sucked into a wall that responded to Honkai energy, and the trio dove in after her, but could not find her. When they found the Xuanyuan Sword, Himeko was there before them and was possessed by an evil inside the sword. The trio fought and defeated her, and looked for a way to exit the caves. Bronya and Kiana argued over the right path.[14]
During the mission, they discovered Anti-Entropy was also at the Nine Realms. When the group reached the exit, they were intercepted by Anti-Entropy forces led by Sin Mal, who claimed she would kill Bronya. However, before it could come to a full confrontation, they were attacked and swallowed by the Honkai Beast Chiyou.[14][15]
Inside the beast, Bronya requested a private comms conversation with Sin Mal. She kept the leverage she used a secret from the group, and convinced Sin Mal to cooperate on taking down Chiyou. She then kept manipulating Sin by appealing to her ego, before revealing she had hacked Anti-Entropy's mechs and taken control of them, after which Sin fled the battle.[15]
The group discovered Ji Xuanyuan was still alive but corrupted. They defeated her, granting her peace, before defeating Chiyou once and for all.[15]
Invasion
Whilst Murata Himeko was recovering from her injuries and Kiana was out training with Theresa, Bronya played a fighting game with Raiden Mei. After achieving her 23rd victory she secretly pressed a button on Mei's controller which caused Mei to win. Just then someone knocked on the door, and Mei went to go and check. The fake sovereign of Anti Entropy, a clone of Welt Joyce, was at the door and pretended to be a new admin officer for Theresa Apocalypse. He claimed he was tasked with bringing Mei to Theresa. Bronya did not believe him, and said she would check with Theresa to make sure. Upon this, the Welt Clone turned hostile and knocked Mei out with his pseudo-Herrscher powers.[16]
Bronya attempted to fight him, but was smashed into a wall by his gravity manipulation. She tried to warn Theresa, but was knocked out by the Welt Clone before she could perform the call.[16]
She was out of comission for the rest of the battle, which was resolved by Kiana.[16]
Stigma Data Space
Gratitude Arc
Theresa Apocalypse succumbed to the influence of the Herrscher of Corruption sealed in the stigmata on her back and fell unconscious. Bronya tried to calm Kiana and diagnosed Theresa's condition. She then told Mei to use the Virtual Reality Comm Link to enter the data space and help Theresa. There, Theresa was reliving Yae Sakura's trauma from Kallen Kaslana's perspective as the Herrscher tried to wear her down. Bronya continued to monitor Theresa's status.[17]
Bronya continued to give Mei instructions. Suddenly, Theresa's heartrate stopped, and her Honkai energy levels peaked. She also sprouted two fox ears. Under the influence of the Herrscher of Corruption, she attacked Bronya and Kiana. Her attack failed, and she knocked herself out against a wall. Bronya and Kiana discovered that rubbing the fox ears made her weak, so on Bronya's suggestion they kept doing so until they could get a Honkai Beast Cage to lock Theresa somewhere safe.[17]
When Theresa woke up, Bronya and Kiana discussed keeping her locked up longer for safety, but Theresa protested.[17]
Sakura Samsara
Theresa's stigmata created an unstable memory space that caused the trapped Yae Sakura to relive her trauma in a cycle. Kiana entered the memory space with Bronya monitoring and guiding Kiana's actions whilst manipulating the memory space. With Bronya's help, Kiana managed to steer the cycle towards a happy ending, breaking the Samsara.[18]
Quest for the Gems
In 2016, shortly before new exams would take place, Kiana, Mei and Bronya were given a mission to deal with a Honkai event in Soukai City. A mysterious Anti-Entropy battleship, the Moonlight Throne (Selene), appeared during the battle and the trio was tasked with investigating. Kiana and Mei took a beating from a Honkai Beast before Bronya joined up with them, so when she arrived she rushed to their aid. Thankfully, they were fine.[7]
Bronya hacked into the ship's systems to get them passage through locked doors, and to let them hijack battle mechs. When they reached the ship's main computer, she uncovered a message that stated they should look for Sirin's 4 gems for Kiana to ascend the throne. It stated Kiana's birthday was the password to the bridge.[7]
Upon entering the password, the ship was redirected to St Freya Academy. However, upon activating the system, Bronya's brain chip went into an emergency defense mode, causing Bronya to lose control and turn hostile towards Kiana and Mei. She was defeated, and when she woke up she requested Murata Himeko arrange a full physiological exam for her.[7]
Bronya discharged herself from the infirmary after performing self diagnostics, and joined up with Kiana for studying and playing video games. During the exam, she was set to duel Kiana. After Kiana asked Bronya whether she had fully recovered, Bronya claimed she was fine, and hey smack talked each other. However, after Bronya lost the battle, she remarked she was performing below her normal capacity, and warned Kiana that Fu Hua would be Kiana's next opponent.[7]
For the final exam, simulated combat program would generate an appropriate foe for the valkyries to fight. However, it generated the Emperor Class Honkai Beast Ganesha after displaying an error. Bronya joined the group in defeating the beast.[7]
Shortly after the exams concluded, the team was once again deployed. This time to New Zealand, to find one of Sirin's gems that had been in Schicksal's posession, the Gem of Desire. Bronya was deployed alongside Kiana and Mei, under oversight of Theresa Apocalypse and Murata Himeko. The gem was at risk due to a Honkai event, and they were tasked with retrieving ex-valkyrie Wendy, who had the gem surgically embedded in her calf. The girl was confined to a wheelchair, and her personality reminded Bronya of Seele. Bronya was kind to Wendy and let her ride Project Bunny 19c. The trio tried to convince Himeko to arrange for the gem to be removed with the hopes of restoring Wendy's ability to walk. However, Himeko explained that that was not an option due to the threat the gem posed.[19]
Bronya apologised to Wendy, but Wendy stated it was not Bronya's fault, before revealing that she had awakened as a Herrscher, and declared war on Schicksal.[19]
In the attempt to stop Wendy, the trio fought her well enough that she decided to fly off. Desperate to stop Wendy before the Schicksal S-rank Valkyrie Durandal arrived on the scene, the group chased her. When they caught up, Bronya managed to talk Wendy down into a peaceful accord. This however, did not please Cocolia, who then used Bronya's brain chip to take over her mind and provoke another battle.[19]
With the aid of several camoflaged Anti-Entropy mechs, Bronya effortlessly took down both Wendy and Mei, and took them into custody, leaving Kiana behind alone.[19]
Bronya then relocated to an ME Corp building with Wendy and Mei. After she regained her senses, she waited for Kiana, Theresa and Himeko to come and try to rescue Mei, and aided them in their plans. When they arrived at the place Mei was held, Bronya was there standing guard. Cocolia tried to give Bronya commands, but Bronya revealed she just burnt the chip in her brain, releasing her from Cocolia's control, but also causing herself brain damage. She told Kiana to take Mei. She then fell into a deep coma.[19]
Coma
Bronya was brought back to St Freya Academy by Theresa's team for medical aid. She was stabilised, but they had no means of healing her damage. Theresa decided to consult the Schicksal Archives for information on how to help her.[19]
During this time, Fu Hua and Raiden Mei visited Bronya. After Fu Hua managed to convince Mei to leave the room, Fu Hua used her feather powers on Bronya, entering her dreams. Within Bronya's mind, she helped Bronya rebuild her own psyche and face her guilt and regrets. Before the end, Bronya realised Fu Hua had somehow entered her dreams, and called it something not to be proud of. Fu Hua however shrugged it off, telling Bronya she wouldn't remember any of it anyway.[20]
Fu Hua planted a feather on her with her powers using Fenghuang Down, which would allow a figment of her memory in the feather to come to Bronya's aid if need be.[3]
Fugitives
Battle of Schicksal
When Kiana was captured by Otto Apocalypse, Theresa decided to rebel against Schicksal and partnered with the Anti-Entropy faction under the leadership of Lieserl Albert Einstein and Frederica Nikola Tesla, without Cocolia's direct involvement. Theresa ordered for Bronya's still comatose body to be transferred to the Hyperion and to undergo brain surgery immediately.[3]
While the Battle of Schicksal was in full swing, Bronya woke up from her coma. Instead of taking time to recover, she rushed to the bridge and encountered Einstein. The scientist told Bronya that entering battle in her state would be suicidal, but Bronya insisted. Einstein then gave her the Star of Eden to use as a weapon, and told her to be careful not to lose it. Bronya donned the Yamabuki Armor, and entered battle to jump to Theresa and Mei's aid just in time to apply an anti-Honkai energy field, and fend off attacks from Benares. The trio then proceeded to defeat Benares in battle.[3]
Frustrated, the Herrscher of the Void decided to teleport the trio to a different location to battle them. Bronya and Theresa were unable to stop the Herrscher from ripping the Gem of Conquest out of Mei's chest right in front of them. The Herrscher then incapacitated Theresa, leaving Bronya as the last one standing. Fu Hua arrived to join the battle, and instructed Bronya to take the unconscious Theresa and Mei back to Hyperion to safety, and medical treatment.[3]
Bronya remained on the Hyperion to confirm their status and to confer with Einstein what the best course of action would be. The battleship was attacked by Honkai Beasts, so Bronya went outside to fend them off. However, her lack of rest from the brain surgery and the intense battle with the Herrscher had exhausted her, and she started to black out during the battle. Murata Himeko arrived and told her to return to Hyperion and recover. That would be the last time Bronya saw Himeko alive.[3]
Arc City
When Kiana was spotted in Arc City, Anti-Entropy sent Bronya, Theresa and Mei down to investigate under Einstein's off field support. Bronya provided tech support and muscle. When they arrived to meet their contact, Gray Serpent, they discovered he had been killed. They were spotted with the body, and were attacked by security bots under the accusation of murder. Bronya hacked into the network and canceled the alert, allowing them to investigate the death. With a holographer scan, Bronya determined the killer had removed all implants from Gray Serpent's body except for a bio-verification chip in his wrist, which Mei stated the murderer had likely forgotten.[3]
Bronya suggested they could use this chip to enter Gray Serpent's territory and find a backup of the intel. Theresa initially refused, stating Gray Serpent's influence and Schicksal's undoubtable involvement in his murder meant it would be too dangerous to remain in the city. However, Bronya convinced her to continue the mission, as she too had experienced being manipulated and used as a tool and she did not want Kiana to continue suffering such a fate. Theresa agreed under the condition they'd call off the mission at the first sign of trouble.[3]
After entering Gray Serpent's territory, they discovered advanced security systems. Bronya used the bio-verification chip to shut down the mech patrols. She then hacked into Gray Serpent's database and located the Ningyo, and discovered the cyborg served as a sorting tool for Gray Serpent to find specific data in his unorganised database.[3]
They chased the Ningyo. When they caught up, they discovered the Ningyo was a little girl. Mei introduced the group as Gray Serpent's business partners, and asked her to help them locate Kiana, but the Ningyo demanded payment. Concerned about spending too much time in the same place, Bronya decided to use her cannon to threaten the child into coming with them. On Theresa's orders, Mei split off from the group to intercept the Schicksal operative Rita Rossweisse, as they had deduced Gray Serpent's killer had purposely left the chip so they would move the Ningyo.[3]
Theresa had trouble getting the cyborg girl to say anything useful, so she turned to Bronya for help. Bronya remarked Theresa was better suited for the job, incorrectly stating Theresa had taught children for 'decades', jabbing at Theresa's age. Theresa replied by saying Bronya should be better at this since she's good with machines. She told Theresa that calling a cyborg a machine is not appropriate, but the Ningyo insisted that she was indeed a machine. While Theresa was trying to pry information from the Ningyo, Bronya dedected incoming hostile mechs and cut the conversation short.[3]
When they reunited with Mei, Bronya noticed Rita had placed a tracker on her during their battle, and instructed Mei to take a different path to throw Rita off.[3]
When they contacted Einstein, Ningyo defied their intention to take her out of Arc City and activated the city's defenses to have them kill her. Bronya noticed this and informed Theresa, then hacked into the city's systems using Gray Serpent's chip whilst Theresa fended off the mechs. Before Bronya was able to complete the hack, Rita appeared. Bronya shielded the Ningyo with her body, but Rita used Gray Serpent's removed eye prosthetic to claim master access and instructed the Ningyo to upload her data for Schicksal and then self destruct, meaning the cyborg girl would perform a full formatting reboot. Bronya was unable to stop it from happening.They decided to take the rebooted Ningyo with them on the Hyperion.[3]
The Cyberattack on Hyperion
During flight, Hyperion received a video transmission from Cocolia, who immediately greeted Bronya. Bronya turned pale and was silent throughout the entire exchange. Cocolia requested Einstein's faction's cooperation to relocate the Gem of Desire and ensure it wouldn't fall into Otto's hands. She then asked them to come to The Deep, where she would await their arrival.[3]
Before Cocolia could finish her explanation, she was cut off by Gray Serpent who hijacked the transmission and then used the Ningyo to hack the Hyperion's systems. He demanded repayment for allowing them to take Ningyo as the intell from their deal. Theresa delegated Bronya and Einstein to fend off the cyberattack. Einstein told Bronya to use a neural link to enter the data space, to which Bronya agreed without hesitation. As soon as she linked up her mind, she was confronted by Gray Serpent. Gray Serpent explained The Serpent gave him insight into the nature of the world as nothing but data, and claimed to have access to Bronya's memories.[3]
To prove his point, he summoned an image of St Freya Academy burning. He then explained he found in her memories that her greatest fear right now was that by turning against Schicksal, the school would be doomed to this fate. He then stated Bronya was like an open book to him. Bronya remained defiant.[3]

Gray Serpent then summoned the memory of her battle against Wendy, and compared her circumstances of disability to those of Bronya, and her circumstances of death to the loss of Seele, and reminded her they were both taken away by Cocolia. He then took her to a memory of the West Siberian Plain, and confronted her with her past as a killer and with the tragedy of the X-10 experiment.[3]

When Gray Serpent suggested she might have repressed the memories because they only brought pain, Bronya replied that due to the damage to her emotive center, she could not feel pain. He then told her pain goes beyond the body, and comes straight from her soul. He told her The Serpent would set her free. As the survivor of the X-10 experiment, she would be The Serpent's fated heir. He then tried to break her with her own sadness and guilt through bombarding her with painful memories.[3]
His efforts were interrupted by Fu Hua's feather figment, which appeared to Bronya as a friend by her side, and soothed her mind. Bronya told Fu Hua that invading others' private memories is not something to be proud of, before thanking the figment for coming to her aid. The figment then explained to Bronya that she was not truly Fu Hua, but a creation of Fenghuang Down. She dispersed Gray Serpent's illusions, and disappeared.[3]
Instead of the neural link being severed, Bronya became disoriented in the data stream and struggled to remain conscious. She stumbled onto a different space, and uncovered a conversation between Einstein and the missing Anti-Entropy sovereign, Welt Yang. After confirming she could not interact with Einstein or Welt in the scene and overhearing a part of their conversation, she concluded this was part of Einstein's database and not Hyperion's database.[3]
She learned that Welt's faction of Anti-Entropy had been working on some sort of plan to eradicate the Honkai and that they had opened new avenues with the facility at The Deep. They talked about the Eye of the Deep, which was a way to enter the Sea of Quanta. She then witnessed how Welt fought an entity that tried to escape the Sea of Quanta, and fell into the Sea himself in the process.[3]
Gray Serpent ceased his attack on the Hyperion. Bronya then questioned Einstein about the events she witnessed, and asked what the Sea of Quanta was. Einstein explained that The Deep facility was built on an ancient Previous Era city, and stated they should head to Cocolia's SoS coordinates.[3]
The Vote
After severing the connection between the Ningyo and the Hyperion, the group discussed their next course of action. Einstein and Theresa came up with two options. Plan 1 would be to fully commit to searching for Kiana, and to ignore Cocolia's request for aid and let her get defeated by Schicksal, losing the Gem of Desire in the process. Plan 2 would be to split into two smaller groups, so that one group could go to The Deep and the other group would search for Kiana. They decided to take 5 minutes to think and discuss, and then call a vote.[5]
As Mei went around to talk to the others, she grew concerned for Bronya and decided to check up on her. Indeed, Bronya was conflicted. She told Mei that Plan 1 was the more sensible option, but upon pointing out that this would spell doom for Cocolia, Mei noticed Bronya's sadness. She then told Bronya to follow her own mind. Eventually, Bronya admitted she wanted to see Cocolia again and ask her questions. When time was up, Bronya voted for Plan 2, which won by a single vote.[5]
As agreed, the group split up. Mei told Bronya to be careful, and Bronya thanked Mei before she left.[5]
The Deep
Together with Einstein and Theresa, Bronya travelled to the beachside near The Deep with the Hyperion. When they arrived above the coast, their communications were cut off by an unknown signal. Theresa and Bronya landed on the beach to deal with the interference. They were attacked by uncategorised Honkai beasts. Before they could finish the fight, Rozaliya Olenyeva and Liliya Olenyeva appeared and finished it for them. Bronya almost didn't recognise them. After a moment of pause, Rozaliya hugged her. Bronya was happy to see them again. They explained their meeting was a coincidence, as they too were checking out the interference.[5]
Bronya was confused by the Twins' new Honkai beast-like features, and Rozaliya told Bronya she could touch her tail because she's 'the' Bronya. They noticed Bronya's response to mentioning Cocolia's name was odd. Rather than explaining the situation, Bronya introduced them to Theresa and Einstein. When Theresa pointed out the twins' strange features, Bronya explained that the twins hadn't had those features when she left the orphanage. Concerned, Bronya assumed Cocolia must've been behind it.[5]
When preparing to go meet Cocolia, Rozaliya accidentally revealed to the group that their strange features were indeed Honkai beast features.[5]
The Hyperion traveled under the water towards The Deep. Whilst discussing the status of the base, Einstein noticed several signals indicating the base was already under attack from Schicksal. All hands rushed to battle stations, and Theresa, Einstein, Bronya and the twins entered the facility to fend off the attack and find Cocolia.[5]
During negotiations, Bronya refrained from speaking and remained stoic in her expressions. After Cocolia's request to join forces to fight Schicksal was denied, Cocolia conceded and told the group that the Gem of Desire was now in the Sea of Quanta. She claimed it was an accident, and told the group that the facilities to retrieve it were present at The Deep, but they would have to stick around and provide cover to do it. This prompted Bronya to speak, as she accused Cocolia of orchestrating the situation on purpose to force the group to grant her protection. Angered, Bronya told Cocolia she had lied too many times, and had to be calmed by Theresa.[5]
When Bronya spotted some strange writing in the ruins, Einstein explained it was the language used in the Previous Era, originating from the lost continent of Mu. She also mentioned that the Dead Sea Scrolls were written in the same language. Bronya expressed she had not expected the Dead Sea Scrolls would be a Previous Era relic. Einstein then further explained to her that she had a suspicion the Selene and The Deep would have similar technologies. She then continued to explain that the Mu continent was destroyed by the Herrscher of the Earth. Bronya was baffled by how an entire continent could disappear leaving so few traces.[5]
Bronya and Theresa then helped the twins clean up some of the Honkai beasts entering breaches in the base. Bronya was amused by Theresa's trouble dealing with the twins' antics.[5]
Upon venturing to the Eye of the Deep, Bronya asked Einstein about the Sea of Quanta, who tried to explain the space through the 'Water Glass Worlds' analogy. Bronya asked if they would be able to reach another world through the Sea of Quanta but Einstein remarked it was all just theory, and entering the Sea was already difficult enough on its own.[5]
Theresa would have trouble surviving the Sea of Quanta, and although Bronya seemed okay, Einstein was more confident going herself. When Bronya expressed concern, Einstein reassured her she would be fine. They then returned to Hyperion to prepare.[5]
Visiting the Graves
When Einstein identified a safety window for entering the Sea of Quanta, Bronya suggested she could assist Einstein. Einstein said that even if Bronya is gifted, she would still need to know the Cauchy-Goursat theorem. Bronya immediately planned to learn the theorem, but Einstein instead requested she keep Rozaliya and Liliya busy so that they wouldn't interfere with her work. Bronya told them to play outside, but they wanted her to play with them.[5]
Bronya initially turned down Rozaliya's suggestion to play hide and seek, but when Rozaliya and Liliya started performing bad comedy skits, she backpedaled on that decision. When she found them hiding together, Rozaliya said they'd do a skit called 'Vodka does not believe in tears', which Bronya found to be an offense to cinema history, as she considered the 1980 movie to be a classic. As they went through the skit, Bronya urged to return to playing hide and seek. After several sharp comments from Bronya towards the skit, they burst out laughing.[5]
Rozaliya and Liliya then explained to Bronya that Cocolia had taken the older girls with her, and had left Sin Mal in charge of the younger ones. Bronya said she wasn't aware Sin Mal could take care of people.[5]
They took Bronya to a special place near The Deep facility. A special island like structure under the water they described as beautiful and heavenly. After explaining how rough the past 4 months had been running from Schicksal forces, they reached a spot where the twins had made three graves for the girls who hadn't made it, among which were Isabella and Zofia.[5]
Bronya took a moment to mourn and reminisce on the cruelty of the past years, when Cocolia suddenly appeared at the clearing. Bronya said she would leave immediately, but Cocolia asked to stay a little longer. As she tried to stop Bronya from leaving, Bronya smacked her hand away and told her she wasn't there for reconciliation. She felt betrayed that Cocolia had used her brain chip to make her hurt Mei and Wendy and called Cocolia a liar. She also expressed that she thought no amount of advantage they could've gained from capturing the Herrschers would have justified it. She hoped Cocolia would continue arguing, but instead Cocolia told her she had a right to her opinions, and should leave. After lamenting that she used to trust Cocolia, Bronya walked off.[5]
Concerned, the twins chased after her. They reaffirmed they did not know Cocolia would show up, and Bronya told them not to be concerned about it, as her trouble with Cocolia was her own. Liliya collapsed from exhaustion, and Bronya asked what happened. Rozaliya then explained how they had nearly died, so Cocolia had brought them to a doctor who fused them with Honkai beast genes to save them, but it had side effects, like Liliya getting tired out quickly. Rozaliya also told Bronya that Cocolia was torn by her decisions, and really cared for Bronya and Seele.[5]
Preparations
Upon reconvening with Einstein, Einstein revealed Tesla had made her a new battlesuit upgrade before she left, the Drive Kometa suit. They decided to test and tune the battlesuit in a simulation. After completing the test, Bronya asked Einstein for more details on what happened with Welt. Einstein obliged and explained how he got stuck. Bronya then asked if they tried to rescue him and pried for possibilities, but Einstein told her the Sea of Quanta was too difficult to deal with.[5]

Bronya pondered on the past alone, when Theresa found her and asked her whether she was troubled by Cocolia. Bronya poured her heart out and explained how betrayed she felt, and how she couldn't forgive Cocolia. She also still struggled with her own history and actions.Theresa reassured Bronya that she is allowed to make her own judgements.[5]

In situations like this, you must stand firm and believe in the right thing, Bronya. You're one of the best students of St. Freya, and a great warrior fighting for humanity. The next day, Bronya and Theresa tried to find Einstein but couldn't. Bronya noticed the calculations for locating the Gem of Desire were complete. They then discovered Honkai Beasts were approaching The Deep. After fending off a wave of enemies, they managed to meet up with Cocolia, who explained the Eye was now open and the Beasts were attracted to it, and Schicksal would surely abuse this opportunity to attack. Cocolia ordered an evacuation.Theresa resolved herself to go to the portal and complete the mission, but Cocolia forbade Bronya from joining her, and instead told Bronya to come with her to safety instead. However, Bronya refused to obey Cocolia. She tried to stop Bronya with mechs, but they beat their way past the opposition. When Bronya reaffirmed her stance, Cocolia ordered Rozaliya and Liliya to assist Bronya in her mission instead, but to not approach the Eye of the Deep.[5]
As they were fighting off waves of enemies, Bronya suddenly detected an energy signature from the Eye of the Deep, signifying a dangerous enemy approaching. From the Eye, Tlaloc appeared and attacked them. They forced him to retreat, but he broke the platform they were on. With the platform falling apart and the portal closing, Bronya had to make a decision quickly. She decided to take the risk and jump into the portal herself, entering the Sea of Quanta.[5]
Sea of Quanta
Meeting Joachim
Upon entering the Sea of Quanta, Bronya met Joachim, who told her she could still go back and warned her not to go deeper. He explained that he was placed there to stop people from going deeper, and that he would subject her to a test. She was then attacked by Honkai Beasts, and fought them off. When they turned into void shadows upon dying, she asked Joachim if he created them, but he explained that they had been reflected into the Sea of Quanta from her own cognition.[5]
Joachim took note that Bronya's Project Bunny 19c drew power from the Sea of Quanta. While it would be an effective weapon in the Sea, she had not yet unlocked its full potential. Upon inquiry, Joachim stated Bronya's tests had only just begun. Now she would be sent to another world where she would have to prove herself.[5]

The First Bubble
Bronya woke up in the first bubble world, a place that resembled the world she knew. Confused, she asked out loud where she was, and was answered by Murata Himeko, a reflection of the Murata Himeko she knew. Apparently she was at this world's St. Freya, and Himeko admonished her for falling asleep in class, and the students laughed. It reminded Bronya of what usually happened with Kiana. Shocked by the sudden appearance of her late teacher, Bronya called out Himeko's name, before covering her mouth and trying to reign in her emotions. Himeko was confused by Bronya's response, and reassured her that it was okay, but she should try to stay awake. Understanding that this was a different world from her own, Bronya decided to follow the motions and observe.[5]
They went into morning combat training, and there Bronya noticed Fu Hua, a reflection of the Fu Hua she knew, talking to Himeko. The sight of two people she thought dead talking to each other was messing with her mind. As the other girls had already found groups, Fu Hua proposed she and Bronya could spar. Himeko joined them, proposing they two-on-one her. Himeko was surprised at Bronya's combat ability, pointing out that despite never having sparred with her, Bronya seemed to know her every move. Bronya observed as Fu Hua admonished Himeko over bringing alcohol to school. They noticed Bronya seemed out of it, and suggested she rest if she wasn't feeling well, which Bronya declined.[5]

They continued sparring. Afterwards, Bronya checked if she could find someone she recognised, but other than Fu Hua and Himeko, she could not find anyone. That afternoon, she entered class as she was pondering the situation, when she came face to face with Cocolia, a reflection of the Cocolia she knew. This Cocolia was a history teacher at St. Freya, and today's lesson was about the Second Eruption. She noticed Bronya was staring at her, so Bronya pretended to be extra attentive because she wanted to learn history that much. She asked Bronya what she knew about the Second Eruption, pointing out the epicenter of the event was Bronya's homeland. Bronya recounted everything she knew, but it didn't line up completely with the history records of this world. Rather than the disaster of Bronya's home, Cocolia described that Schicksal was able to resolve the disaster within 22 hours with quick mobilisation. The differences shocked Bronya.[5]
At the end of the lesson, Cocolia explained that Squad Snowwolf was admonished for disobedience due to going out of their way to evacuate civilians, but that she herself found this admonishment unjust. When the students left after class, Bronya further inquired about Cocolia's background and why she became a valkyrie. Cocolia took on a maternal disposition and patted Bronya's head as she explained that she had grown up in a Siberian orphanage and wanted to do something to help the other orphans. But rather than joining the army or building her own orphanage, she had decided to become a valkyrie, because St. Freya could offer a unique support, namely hope and freedom.[5]
Bronya admitted Cocolia reminded her of someone similar but different with a sad tone. Cocolia told her she knew about Bronya's rough past, implying in this world Bronya had a similar background to her own. Cocolia stated that here at St. Freya, Bronya would be allowed to follow her heart instead of taking orders, prompting an awkward silence until Himeko interrupted the conversation.[5]
Himeko had a mission from HQ, and urged that they should start the mission soon, despite being short on people. It was however a mission deemed easy enough to bring students for, so she was looking for people to join. She invited Bronya along, and Bronya quickly agreed. Thus Cocolia assigned Bronya to Squad V of the Far East Branch.[5]
After Cocolia and Himeko left, Bronya contemplated the nature of this world and the thing she was looking for, and reaffirmed to herself that this world was not 'real'.[5]
Bronya met up with Himeko, Cocolia and Fu Hua that evening to set out for the mission. They were waiting for one additional member of the squad, who was late. To Bronya's astonishment, this member turned out to be Seele Vollerei. Bronya remained silent as Cocolia introduced her to Seele. She recognised the color of Seele's eyes as the same as she remembered. Seele behaved as if she did not know Bronya. When Seele said hello, Bronya responded with a small voice.[5]
Cocolia called for them to set out, and Bronya contemplated the situation, considering that since there was no orphanage and no X-10 experiment in this world, this world's Seele would be a normal girl. She silently lamented that she had gotten her hopes up that this would be the real Seele, and assumed it was simply this world's version of her. She was not yet aware that this was indeed the real Seele she had known in the past.[5]
Upon arriving in the city of the operation, Fu Hua explained their goal was to recover a stolen asset that was taken from Schicksal in an ambush. It was speculated to be taken by the anti-Schicksal group Anti-Entropy. According to intel, the asset was kept nearby by an intel dealer called Argent Fox. Seele interjected to say she thinks Argent Fox was actually the one who took the asset, and was looking to sell it to Anti-Entropy instead. Bronya stayed quiet during the conversation. Cocolia then stated the team would be split into two groups, with Bronya and Seele responsible for mapping out the area and locating the missing asset, as the others would try to confront Argent Fox directly.[5]
Seele asked Bronya for ideas, and Bronya remarked that Argent Fox had patrolling mechs protecting the area. She suggested hacking into one to deduce patrolling routes and locate the missing asset. Seele agreed, and stated they should go to the north plaza as it had less mechs and would thus be easier to find an isolated one. This made Bronya think this Seele was more mature and independent than the one she remembered, and she wondered if Seele would have turned out this way had she survived the test.[5]
They snuck around until they found a good mech to hack. Upon hacking it, Bronya identified heavily protected areas in the north and the west, and speculated that one of these points would be where Argent Fox had taken the asset. Seele countered this train of thought, stating the asset was more likely to be kept at a warehouse she pointed out on the map. When Bronya asked why she thought this, she explained there were not many patrols, but there was always one present. Bronya agreed this seemed deliberate.[5]
Bronya complimented Seele, saying she was observant and knew the city inside out. However, Seele nervously denied it and said she had the info because she saw the mission report. Bronya did not remember seeing this kind of info on the report, and became suspicious of Seele's defensive behaviour.[5]
Cocolia called and confirmed Argent Fox had been dealt with. When Bronya asked if they had killed Argent Fox, Cocolia was slightly taken aback, and clarified they had used a tranquiliser instead. They agreed to rendezvous at the suspect location Bronya and Seele had pinpointed. The duo arrived first, so they neutralised an defense mechs as they awaited their instructors.[5]
Once inside, Fu Hua confirmed they had found one of Argent Fox' hideouts. Upon opening the warehouse, they found Welt. Bronya recognised him, but it turned out it wasn't the same Joachim she had met before. Seele suggested the boy may be the missing asset. Terrified, Welt used the powers of the Herrscher of Reason to try and fend them off, but soon collapsed of exhaustion. They found the boy had several marks of physical abuse. Bronya stopped Himeko from calling into HQ, and explained that if the boy had Herrscher powers, Schicksal was likely the culprit for abusing him, and would do so again. Cocolia stood by Bronya's claim.[5]
The discussion was interrupted when Bronya sensed approaching units. They realised it was an attack from Anti-Entropy. On Cocolia's orders, they split up to avoid a drawn out fight with the boy in the middle. The instructors would stay behind, and Bronya and Seele would go ahead to the evac point with the boy. Bronya was hesitant to leave the instructors behind, but they reassured her this was the best plan.[5]
On the way, the duo fended off enemy mechs. Before arriving however, Seele halted their progress, and told Bronya they couldn't take Welt to the evac point. Upon further questioning, Seele could not provide good answers. Bronya pointed out that something was strange about her, which prompted Seele to plead for Bronya to give her Welt, saying things would end up restarting again and again if she didn't. Seele's alternate persona briefly took over and demanded Welt.[5]
She summoned a quantum shadow that attacked Bronya. Bronya swiftly defeated it, and left Seele in shock. She said nobody in this world should've been capable of defeating a Quantum Shadow. Both of them realised the other didn't 'belong' in this world, and they realised the other was the person they had known in the past.[5]
They immediately hugged and started crying. Seele repeatedly asked Bronya if it was really her, and Bronya repeatedly confirmed it. Bronya felt emotions she hadn't felt since the X-10 experiment. Despite her troubles with her own memory, she did recall their promise. Seele explained that she did not truly know how she got to this world, but that it was on a time loop that was somehow connected to the mission. Failing the mission or delivering Welt to Schicksal would simply restart the loop from a couple of days before the mission.[5]
Bronya comforted Seele, and said Seele had told her enough info to figure out the solution. The two brought Welt to the evac point. Cocolia said they'd deliver the boy to Schicksal after all and wrap this up quickly, but Bronya restated they couldn't do that, and unbuttoned Welt's shirt to emphasise his scars. Fu Hua argued that because he had Herrscher powers, not delivering him could be a big risk as he could turn into a murderous Herrscher. Bronya confidently countered by saying he would definitely become such a Herrscher if they delivered him. She then pressed that he should be sent to St. Freya instead, and enjoy the natural privileges of a human being, such as the freedom to think and learn for himself. That way, they could teach him to be good, and he could live well.[5]
To Seele's surprise, Cocolia agreed and no reset happened. Himeko revealed they hadn't really planned to deliver Welt, but Cocolia had pretended to to test Bronya. After all, they were St Freya Valkyries.[5]
As they were wrapping up, Himeko congratulated Bronya on her good words. Bronya said she simply learnt it from her, and Himeko said she was being too polite. Bronya disagreed.[5]

Himeko was taken aback by the sentimental display, but thanked Bronya and said they'd party well that night.[5]
Bronya still wanted to confirm something, so she asked Fu Hua her opinion on Welt. After Fu Hua said she sympathised with him. Bronya asked specifically for the opinion of Shadow Knight, hinting at Fu Hua's secret mission for Otto, using the real Fu Hua and Otto as a reference. Fu Hua said she would not interfere with the plan to take the boy to St. Freya, but they would have to bear the consequences. Content with the answer, Bronya thanked her and moved on.[5]
Cocolia asked Bronya's opinion on the cover story that the mission was failed, but St. Freya would be admitting a transfer student. Bronya said she had no complaints. Cocolia remarked Bronya would make for a great valkyrie some day, and Bronya thanked her.[5]
As the group left the evac point, Bronya was suddenly booted from the bubble world, finding herself back in the messy space of the Sea of Quanta.
